Khammuan: New cement factory starts producing

ຂປລ (KPL) The Lane Xang Lao Cement Factory in Khammouane Province, with production capacity of about 1 million tonnes per year, officially began production last Thursday. The launching ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad who is in charge of economic affairs, production and goods circulation.

(KPL) The Lane Xang Lao Cement Factory in Khammouane Province, with production capacity of about 1 million tonnes per year, officially began production last Thursday.

The launching ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad who is in charge of economic affairs, production and goods circulation.

The Lane Xang Lao Cement Company has been established in 2012 by a joint venture among YEIG, New Rural Development Company of the Ministry of National Defence and Saithirath Group Ltd, Mr Yang Yong, its chairman said at the opening ceremony. The Lane Xang Lao Cement Company has invested US$120 million in the construction of the cement factory in Khounnguean village, Khounkham district, Khammuan Province since 2014.

“The new factory will supply cement for several projects in Laos including the construction of the Laos-China high-speed railway, several new roads and bridges, and hydropower and other infrastructure projects, Mr Yang Yong added.

Khammuan governor Mr Oodai Soudaphone said that the construction of the Lane Xang Lao Cement Company is deemed a great contribution to the provincial development strategy of industrialization.
