The Xeuchin Wind Power Projects 1 and 2 in Bolikhamxay Province, are rapidly approaching completion, with over 80% of construction already finished.
The projects are on schedule to begin generating electricity by the end of 2025.
According to Project Director Mr. Ruang Jungang, both Phase 1 (250 megawatts) and Phase 2 (350 megawatts) are set to commence commercial operations by the end of this year. The electricity generated will be exported to Vietnam under a cross-border energy cooperation agreement.
In a statement to the media, Mr. Ruang highlighted the project's role in Laos’ long-term strategy to establish itself as a major regional hub for renewable energy.
Building on the momentum of the Xeuchin developments, several other large-scale wind power projects are scheduled to launch in 2026.
Additionally, the planned Phakhao Wind Power Project will contribute a further 750 megawatts to the national grid.
These five projects are part of a coordinated expansion plan, slated for development between 2025 and 2029 under agreements with the Lao government. This initiative marks a significant push toward sustainable development and energy diversification for the country.
These investments are designed to enhance the quality of life for local residents and ensure the benefits of renewable energy projects extend far beyond power production.
