Lao Students Convene in Vientiane for National Best Student Competition

ຂປລ The opening ceremony for the National Best Student Competition for the 2025-2026 academic year was held on April 20, 2026, in Vientiane. The event was presided over by Ms. Ladavone Kittiphan, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, and attended by department heads, deputy heads, division chiefs, and directors from both public and private schools across the country.

(KPL) The opening ceremony for the National Best Student Competition for the 2025-2026 academic year was held on April 20, 2026, in Vientiane. The event was presided over by Ms. Ladavone Kittiphan, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, and attended by department heads, deputy heads, division chiefs, and directors from both public and private schools across the country.

Competition Details

The competition focuses on four core subjects for students in Matthayom 4 (M4) and Matthayom 7 (M7) including Lao Language & Literature, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

In addition to the written exams, the event features a Science Quiz (Q&A) session. The schedule of activities runs from April 20, with the official announcement of results and the award ceremony scheduled for April 24, 2026.

This year, the competition welcomes 288 students (including 165 females) representing Vientiane and all 17 provinces.

Beyond the academic testing, the students will participate in educational field trips to historical sites and cultural heritage landmarks. They will also visit technical vocational colleges and international secondary schools to broaden their perspectives.

The National Best Student Competition is a high-priority annual activity aiming to measure and evaluate the success of teaching methods and student learning outcomes, provide a platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge, talents, and creative thinking, encourage the "Teach Well, Learn Well" movement in secondary schools nationwide and foster a spirit of healthy competition and excellence, inspiring students to strive for higher academic achievements.
