ຂປລ The Sekong Provincial Administration Office has issued a directive ahead of the upcoming Lao New Year (Pi Mai Lao) celebrations for BE 2569, strictly prohibiting traders and service providers from inflating prices during the festive period.

The notice instructs relevant sectors to bolster food production and ensure the supply of consumer goods meets public demand. Authorities have been tasked with rigorous market inspections to monitor product quality and manage the costs of goods and services, explicitly forbidding any unjustified price hikes on food and essential items.

Security and Public Order

To maintain peace and safety, provincial departments, district administrations, and all sectors of society have been urged to remain vigilant. Security forces have been ordered to establish 24-hour patrols at key locations and government offices to prevent fires and criminal activity.

Traffic police will be deployed to manage congestion and facilitate smooth travel. Furthermore, the administration is intensifying public awareness campaigns across television, radio, and social media to encourage strict adherence to traffic regulations and reduce road accidents.

In an effort to exercise fiscal restraint and save state administrative budgets, government departments and state-equivalent organisations are prohibited from hosting individual New Year parties. Instead, a unified celebration will be held at the Provincial Administration Office grounds on 10 April 2026.

For private celebrations and members of the public, the following regulations have been established:

•All loud music and private parties must conclude by 11:00 PM.

•Entertainment venues, restaurants, and karaoke bars must strictly observe statutory opening and closing times.

•Public water throwing must cease at 6:00 PM daily, except in designated festival zones.

•It is strictly forbidden to carry water barrels on the back of pickup trucks for water splashing, or to set up splashing tents along main highways.

•The use of plastic water bags, high-pressure water guns, and unclean water (including dyed or iced water) is strictly banned.

•Authorities have reiterated a zero-tolerance policy for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The directive aims to preserve the fine cultural traditions of Laos while ensuring that the New Year festivities are conducted in a safe, orderly, and unified manner across the province.
