(KPL) The vibrant "Taste of Korea 2025" festival, a dazzling three-day celebration of Korean and Lao culture, cuisine, and commerce, concluded on August 3rd at Parkson Shopping Mall in Vientiane, leaving an indelible mark on over 100,000 visitors. Co-hosted by KOTRA Vientiane and Thongtaek, the event commemorated the 30th anniversary of Korea-Laos diplomatic relations, fostering deeper cultural exchange and business collaboration between the two nations.

From sizzling tteokbokki to premium Hanwoo beef, the festival was a paradise for food lovers. The KOTRA Showcase Zone featured 27 Korean companies presenting 90 products, including sauces, noodles, snacks, and beverages, drawing keen interest from Lao consumers and buyers. Meanwhile, the KOTRA Food Booth served up crowd favorites like Korean ramen and fusion dishes crafted by winners of the Korea-Laos Food Pairing Contest, offering a delicious bridge between the two cuisines.

But the culinary fusion didn’t stop there—23 top Lao street food vendors joined the Thongtaek Food Booth, serving special Korean-inspired dishes. From kimchi-infused Lao sausages to bulgogi-flavored sticky rice, the creativity on display highlighted the growing synergy between Korean and Lao flavors.

The DIY Zone was a hit among families, featuring live cartoon drawings, Squid Game–inspired challenges, and a tteok-kkochi (rice cake skewer) workshop where kids and adults alike got hands-on with Korean traditions. The laughter and excitement from the games and activities proved that cultural exchange is best served with a side of fun.

More than just a festival, the event was a launchpad for business partnerships. Lao importers and Korean exporters connected directly, paving the way for future trade opportunities. Jungwe Park, Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, reflected on the event’s success:

“This fair was a golden opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and explore new business horizons. We’re confident that the connections made here will fuel even stronger economic and cultural ties between Korea and Laos.”

The organizers expressed heartfelt thanks to Thongtaek, participating businesses, and sponsors, whose support made the festival possible. With this year’s overwhelming success, anticipation is already building for an even bigger and bolder "Taste of Korea" in the years to come.

As the final bites were enjoyed and the last cultural performances wrapped up, one thing was clear: Korea and Laos don’t just share a table—they’re crafting a lasting friendship, one delicious dish at a time.
