(KPL) The handover ceremony took place at the Champasak Provincial Administration Office, where the assistance was received by Dr. Alounxay Sounnalath, Central Committee Member of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and President of the Champasak Provincial People’s Council, in the presence of provincial leaders and representatives of relevant sectors.

The rice was provided with support from Deseret International Charities (DIC), an international humanitarian organisation, while the 200 million kip was contributed by members of the LFNC Committee and other members of society through the LFNC to provide relief to families affected by flooding.

During the ceremony, Dr. Alounxay briefed the visiting delegation on the province’s socio-economic development and the impact of recent storms and heavy rainfall.

According to the provincial Disaster Management Committee, the flooding affected 244 villages, 2,961 houses and 7,359 hectares of agricultural land, as well as 43 irrigation projects, 55 rural and main roads, 15 riverbank erosion sites and 35 schools.

Provincial authorities have implemented measures to assist affected communities and restore normal conditions, with priority given to repairing damaged infrastructure and supporting families whose livelihoods were disrupted by the floods.

Dr. Alounxay expressed appreciation to the LFNC President, LFNC Committee members and other organisations and individuals for their timely assistance, saying the provincial authorities would ensure that the relief supplies reach affected families.

On the same day, Prof. Dr. Kikeo visited the provincial LFNC office and met with officials, representatives of mass organisations and LFNC staff. The meeting was attended by Ms. Vatsana Silima, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and President of the Champasak LFNC.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Kikeo presented 60 million kip to provincial and district LFNC chapters to support and strengthen their activities and community outreach.
