(KPL) The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism (MICT) officially launched an electronic system for issuing tourism business licenses on August 15, 2024.
The launch event was attended by Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Ms. Suanesavanh Viyaket, along with representatives of relevant central and local authorities.
Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Ms. Dalany Phommavongsa, emphasized that the development of this electronic system, alongside improvements in related laws and regulations, marks a significant step forward in creating the mechanisms, conditions, and environment for investment and business operations in the tourism sector in the Lao PDR.
The initiative aims to elevate the quality, standards, and services of the public sector, aligning with the policies of the Party and government.
The electronic system, along with an integrated business database, is expected to provide long-term benefits, including the improvement of the business environment, strengthened collaboration between the public and private sectors, and seamless cross-border business interactions.
Leveraging its rich natural resources and geographical advantages, the Lao PDR is strategically positioned to bolster its energy, agriculture, tourism, and transport sectors, enhancing its economic competitiveness both regionally and globally.
The government recognizes the importance of adopting digital technologies across various sectors to foster the growth of the digital economy, expand comprehensive services, and attract investment, trade, services, and tourism—both domestically and internationally. This digitalization effort is also aimed at boosting local production, exports, employment, and income distribution, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the country in line with green and sustainable growth strategies.
