(KPL) Leaders from Nghe An Province extended Lao New Year greetings during a high-level visit to Vientiane on April 5, 2026, underscoring close ties between the two sides.
The delegation, led by Vo Trong Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghe An, was received by Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee and Chairman of the Vientiane People’s Council, along with Sililaththongsin Thongpheng, Chairman of the Vientiane Administration Committee, and other officials.
During the meeting, Vo Trong Hai conveyed warm wishes on behalf of the Party, State and people of Nghe An to the leadership and citizens of Laos ahead of the upcoming Lao New Year.
He also congratulated Laos on the successful organization of major political events, including the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the inaugural session of the 10th National Assembly.
The Vietnamese official noted that the visit included representatives from ministries and provinces maintaining border and sister-city relations with Nghe An, and provided an overview of the province’s recent development and its strategic plans for 2026–2030.
In response, Atsaphangthong Siphandone expressed appreciation for the visit, emphasizing that it reflects the long-standing friendship and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam, as well as the growing cooperation between Vientiane and Nghe An.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in key sectors including education, trade, investment and tourism, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration between local authorities and institutions.
Officials said the continued exchanges are expected to further deepen ties and promote mutual development in the years ahead.
