Luang Prabang has secured third place among Asia’s best cultural tourism destinations, according to a recent ranking by the Times of India (TOI).

The recognition marks another significant milestone for Laos’ tourism sector. The UNESCO World Heritage city was placed third out of ten destinations featured in TOI’s Asia’s Cultural Gems, highlighting Luang Prabang’s enduring appeal as a city where history, spirituality, and architectural heritage harmoniously converge.
The accolade reflects Luang Prabang’s rich cultural traditions, well-preserved temples, and distinctive Lao-colonial architecture, which continue to captivate travelers and cultural experts worldwide. Over the years, the city has strengthened its reputation as a must-visit destination, standing alongside globally renowned cultural centers such as Kyoto and Varanasi.

According to TOI, the top ten cultural destinations in Asia are:
