ຂປລ (KPL) Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Jan 17-18 visited Luang Prabang to urge local authorities and farmers to attach greater importance to promoting commercial production in the agricultural sector and the development of tourism.

(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Jan 17-18 visited Luang Prabang to urge local authorities and farmers to attach greater importance to promoting commercial production in the agricultural sector and the development of tourism.

While talking with senior officials of the province, Mr Sonexay also urged relevant authorities to ensure that political stability and public order are maintained with the participation of people of all strata.

He asked the province to translate into reality in a fruitful manner the Resolution of the 10th Party National Congress and continue to attract more domestic and foreign investment to the province.

During his visit, Mr Sonexay also toured infrastructure development projects in Chomphet district, the Luang Prabang Special Economic Development Zone, and the construction site of the Laos-China Railway Construction Project, and presented five computer sets to the Luang Prabang Provincial Administration Office.

Luang Prabang recorded economic growth of 8.4 per cent last year with per capita income reaching US$1,746 (around 14.1 million kip), according to Luang Prabang Governor, Mr Khankham Chanthavisouk.
