(KPL) Khammouane's health sector has achieved nine of 11 targets approved by the Provincial People's Assembly, while two indicators remain below target, according to the Provincial Health Department.

Dr. Kenchan Thongsavat, Head of the Khammouane Provincial Health Department, reported the results during Minister of Public Health Baikham Khatthiya's working visit to the province on August 20, 2026.

The two unmet indicators are births assisted by skilled health personnel, which reached 28.7% against a 71.6% target, and the Penta 3 vaccination rate, which stood at 37.3% against the 90% target.

For the remainder of 2026, the department will prioritise maternal and child health, disease prevention, public health awareness, healthcare quality, staff development, and food and medicine safety.

Minister Baikham urged provincial authorities to accelerate efforts to achieve the two outstanding targets, strengthen medical staff capacity and ensure effective healthcare services, particularly during the ongoing floods.

She also presented medical supplies worth more than 100 million kip, along with financial assistance, and inspected Khammouane Provincial Hosp
