Laos' Inflation Eases to 7.4 Percent in June

ຂປລ Laos' annual inflation rate declined to 7.4 percent in June, down from 9.0 percent in May, reflecting continued progress in easing price pressures, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Data released by the ministry showed that the housing, water, electricity and gas category recorded the highest year-on-year increase at 20.1 percent, remaining the largest contributor to overall inflation.
Other categories posting notable price increases included education, which rose 12.3 percent, followed by medical care and medicines at 11.8 percent, and communications and transport at 11.6 percent.
The decline in the overall inflation rate marks a continuation of the government's efforts to stabilize the economy while supporting sustainable growth.
To further contain inflationary pressures, the government will continue implementing prudent monetary policies in coordination with the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL). These measures include the issuance of central bank bonds to manage liquidity, exchange rate stabilization, and other policy tools aimed at maintaining monetary stability and strengthening confidence in the national economy.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving macroeconomic stability while creating favorable conditions for economic recovery, investment, and sustainable development.
