(KPL/VNA) Team K53 under the Military Command of Quang Ngai province detected five additional sets of martyrs’ remains in Laos and Cambodia from January 12 to 19, the command said on January 20.
Specifically, on January 12, near Marker 136 along the Cambodia – Laos border in Ta Veng district, Cambodia's Ratanakiri province, Team K53 recovered three sets of remains, including decomposed bones and teeth wrapped in parachute fabric, meeting the conditions for DNA sampling.
On January 17, in the vicinity of Phooc stream in Samakkhixay district, Laos' Attapeu province, the team closely coordinated with local authorities and residents to search for and retrieve two additional sets of martyrs’ remains. These remains contained fragments of bones and teeth, also wrapped in parachute fabric, along with belts, rubber sandals and various related personal items.
The identities of all five martyrs have yet to be determined, according to the Quang Ngai Military Command. It noted that since the beginning of the dry season, despite rugged terrain and harsh weather conditions, Team K53 has recovered a total of 15 sets of remains in the two neighbouring countries. With unwavering determination and tireless effort, the team has played a vital role in bringing fallen heroes back to their homeland as quickly as possible.
