Nationwide People’s Prosecutor’s Office Reviews 2025 Performance, Sets Reform Priorities for 2026

ຂປລ The Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor (OSPP) held its 2025 annual review meeting and summary of civil litigation monitoring on January 12, 2026, to assess performance over the past year and define key priorities for 2026.

(KPL) The Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor (OSPP) held its 2025 annual review meeting and summary of civil litigation monitoring on January 12, 2026, to assess performance over the past year and define key priorities for 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Xaysana Khotphouthone, Member of the Party Central Committee and Prosecutor General of the OSPP, with participation from representatives of military prosecutors, regional offices, and provincial prosecutor units nationwide.

The conference reviewed major achievements in 2025, identified existing shortcomings, and discussed practical solutions to strengthen prosecutorial work in line with national realities and legal principles. Particular attention was given to monitoring civil litigation to ensure fairness, legality, and protection of citizens’ rights.

Participants conducted an open and results-oriented assessment, focusing on improving effectiveness, addressing procedural bottlenecks, and enhancing coordination across the justice sector.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Xaysana outlined key priorities for 2026, including strengthening discipline and integrity among prosecutors, preventing corruption and negative practices, and improving political and professional capacity of personnel.

He also emphasized the need to streamline organizational structures at both central and local levels, expand public access to legal services, and enhance coordination among police, prosecutors, courts, and the justice sector to ensure consistent enforcement of the law.

Further priorities include advancing the drafting and revision of key legislation, notably the Law on Criminal Procedure and a new Law on Evidence, as well as promoting international cooperation to support modernization, infrastructure development, and digital transformation within the prosecutorial system.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to translate the outcomes of the review into concrete actions, aiming to strengthen the rule of law and improve the quality and credibility of prosecutions nationwide.
