A Lao businesswoman, Adina Mahavong, has become the first representative from Laos to win the World Madam 2025 title, marking a milestone for Lao women on the international stage.
The competition was held in People's Republic of China from 27 to 29 November 2025 under the theme “One small step for Madams, one giant leap for the world”. The event brought together more than 40 contestants from over 20 countries, representing a wide range of business sectors.
Mrs Adina also received the World Madam Asia 2025 title, with the awards recognising women’s contributions to social work, cultural promotion and business networking in support of peace and global development.
Speaking to Lao media at the Amari Hotel in Vientiane, she said she was proud to represent Lao women internationally. She highlighted her performances during the competition, which included answering questions in foreign languages, a traditional Lao lamvong dance and a ballet performance in a Lao silk costume featuring distinctive embroidery from Luang Prabang.
She said the performances aimed to showcase Lao culture, unity and the gentle yet resilient spirit of Lao women, which she believed helped secure the judges’ support.
Mrs Adina added that the World Madam crown was not a beauty title, but a symbol of women’s value in contributing to society, strengthening cultural and business links and promoting social stability worldwide.
She said she would continue her work in social development, particularly in education and public health, and would step up efforts to promote Lao products in regional and international markets.
The next World Madam Asia competition is scheduled to be held in Malaysia in 2026.
