ຂປລ Vietnam’s Nghe An Province has expressed its commitment to enhancing cooperation with Lao media to promote investment, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two neighboring countries.

Director General Mr. Vannasin Simmavong (L) meets Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao, Deputy Director of Nghe An’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in Nghe An, Vietnam.

This initiative was highlighted during an official visit by a delegation from the Lao News Agency (KPL), led by Director General Mr. Vannasin Simmavong, to the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN) from November 9–14, 2025. The visit aimed to further deepen and expand collaboration between the two national news agencies of Laos and Vietnam.

On November 10, 2025, the KPL delegation met with Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao, Deputy Director of Nghe An’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and his team. Both sides exchanged information on administrative restructuring and the implementation of digital transformation initiatives across various sectors.

Mr. Nguyen reported that Nghe An’s economy grew by 8.61 per cent during the first nine months of 2025—up from 8.49 per cent in 2024—ranking second in Vietnam’s North Central region and 11th nationwide. The province has also ranked among the top ten localities in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) for three consecutive years (2022–2024).

Nghe An maintains close cooperation with Laos’ border provinces—Xieng Khuang, Huaphan, and Borikhamxay—in several areas. The province has established partnerships with 21 Lao villages and achieved bilateral trade with Laos worth USD 30.6 million in exports and USD 34.59 million in imports, mainly comprising timber, minerals, and wood products.

With over 300 media professionals, including two local news agencies and more than 80 media representatives from various organizations, Nghe An’s media sector plays a crucial role in disseminating government policies, attracting investment, and supporting local socio-economic development.

Looking ahead, Nghe An hopes to strengthen collaboration with the Lao News Agency and other Lao media outlets to share more information about the province’s economic potential, cultural identity, and tourism attractions. Such cooperation is expected to deepen mutual understanding between Lao authorities and citizens while promoting cross-border investment and tourism.

In response, Mr. Vannasin Simmavong praised Nghe An’s socio-economic progress and expressed KPL’s readiness to enhance joint news and communication activities with the province. He also noted that the Vietnam News Agency’s representative office in Nghe An will serve as a vital bridge for future coordination and practical cooperation between the two sides.
