(KPL) The Lao-Chinese Modern Agricultural Skills Development Project was officially launched on May 13, 2025, at Dongkhamxang Agricultural Technical College, with representatives from both nations attending the opening ceremony.
The event was attended by Ms. Silinthone Saklorkham, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education and Sports, along with other key stakeholders.
Mr. Chittakon Sisanon, Director of Dongkhamxang Agricultural Technical College, expressed appreciation for the collaborative initiative, noting its positive impact on the learning environment. He emphasized the growing interest among students in learning the Chinese language alongside their agricultural studies.
Mr. Xin Gang, Vice President of Guangxi Agricultural Technical University, highlighted the project as a testament to the deepening cooperation between Laos and China. He noted that the partnership aligns with broader trends in the advancement of modern agriculture.
Launched at the end of 2023, the project is a trilateral collaboration involving Dongkhamxang Agricultural Technical College (under the supervision of the Department of Vocational Education and Training and the Department of International Cooperation), the Faculty of Agriculture at the National University of Laos, and Guangxi Agricultural Technical and Vocational University, operating under China’s Guangxi Provincial Department of Education.
The three-year initiative (December 31, 2023 – December 31, 2026) aims to equip Lao students with modern agricultural expertise through training led by Chinese experts and scholars. Currently, 100 students from Dongkhamxang Agricultural Technical College are enrolled in the program, which follows a 2+1 learning model—two years of study in Laos followed by one year in China.
