(KPL/VNA) The 14th Liaison Officials' Meeting of the China (Guangxi) - ASEAN Mining Cooperation Conference was held in Hanoi on March 11, bringing together officials from ASEAN member states and China to review past collaboration and set future priorities.

Speaking at the event, deputy director of the department of natural resources of China's Guangxi province Li Xiudan emphasised the importance of aligning mining activities with environmental protection and climate action, contributing to the broader 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Vietnam highlighted the successful implementation of the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan (AMCAP) 2020-2025 and reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining practices.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Department of Geology and Minerals Tran My Dung proposed deeper technical cooperation, including knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and policy harmonisation under international frameworks.

He noted Vietnam’s efforts to regulate and develop its mining sector, particularly through the newly enacted Geology and Minerals Law.

ASEAN and Chinese delegates also discussed investment opportunities and strategies for eco-friendly mining. The meeting included a Vietnam-China business forum, further fostering collaboration between enterprises in the sector.
