ASEAN Senior Officials meet in Vientiane

ຂປລ (KPL) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Leader of ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Lao PDR Thongphan Savanphet chaired ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting and a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone Commission under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.


(KPL) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Leader of ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Lao PDR Thongphan Savanphet chaired ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting and a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone Commission under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from ASEAN member states and Timor Leste.

The meeting noted that good progress has been made in implementing nine priorities, programmes for Laos’ ASEAN chairmanship to realize the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.

The participants also discussed issues related to the promotion of ASEAN Community over years to come, devising strategic plans to realize ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which comprises four strategic plans namely: ASEAN Political-Security Community Plan of Action, ASEAN Economic Community Plan of Action, ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Plan of Action and the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.

They also discussed the cooperation between ASEAN and external partners, applications from countries wishing to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia and preparations for the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), the meeting between ASEAN Foreign Ministers and their counterparts from dialogue partner countries, 25th ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, 14th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and 31st ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting, which will be held on Jul 24-27 in Vientiane.
