Three provinces failed to impose fines totalling LAK 3.77 billion on mining companies operating in violation of regulations, including those with expired or no exploitation licences, according to the State Audit Organization (SAO).

(KPL) SAO President Viengthavisone Thephachanh reported the findings of the 2025 audit, conducted in 2026, to the Second Ordinary Session of the 10th National Assembly on October 8.
The audit found that Vientiane Province, Bolikhamxay and Khammouane had failed to impose fines on mining companies covered by Prime Ministerial Order No. 373/PM.
The violations included operating with expired exploitation licences, operating without exploitation licences and failing to deposit required mine closure guarantee funds, with the total amount of fines estimated at LAK 3.77 billion.
