Authorities in Sikhottabong District, Vientiane Capital, collected 150 electric scooters that had been parked without authorization along major roads and pedestrian walkways, obstructing traffic and public access.
(KPL) The operation was conducted on September 28–29 by the Sikhottabong District Order Maintenance Committee in accordance with Government Decree No. 568/Gov, dated September 16, 2021, on fines and other measures for violations of road traffic regulations, and Decision No. 1184/VC, dated November 20, 2017, on maintaining urban and suburban order in Vientiane.
The confiscated scooters were transported to and stored at the Sikhottabong District Administration Office.
Business owners and operators must obtain the required authorization documents from the relevant authorities in accordance with laws and regulations before they can retrieve their scooters.
The operation followed guidance from Vientiane Capital authorities to address the use and parking of electric scooters that do not have official authorization from the relevant sectors.
