The Lao Youth Business Association (LYBA) reviewed its achievements for the first half of 2026 and outlined priorities for the remainder of the year during a meeting held on Aug. 6 in Vientiane under the theme, "Developing LYBA and Promoting Youth-Led Economic Growth."
The meeting was chaired by Thongly Sisoulith, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU), and Souvaly Khamphouy, President of LYBA, with representatives from relevant organizations in attendance.Khamkhoun Khounthavong, Vice President of LYBA, presented a report highlighting the association's progress during the first six months of the year. He said LYBA had strengthened ideological and organizational work while encouraging members to participate in activities marking key national historical events.The association expanded its membership to 112 companies, created 615 jobs, and continued implementing its five-year development plan, he said.Participants also discussed strategies to strengthen youth entrepreneurship through technology and digital innovation, improve access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and encourage greater private sector participation in state investment projects.The meeting also included the presentation of certificates of appreciation to sponsors and the awarding of Youth Talaum Bon medals to individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions.In his closing remarks, Mr. Thongly emphasized the importance of translating the meeting's resolutions into concrete action.He called for stronger political and ideological education, wider dissemination of Party and government policies, improved organizational capacity, and the development of a comprehensive digital database and sustainable development fund for LYBA.Thongly also urged the association to transform memoranda of understanding into practical projects, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, create more employment opportunities for young people, and continue supporting the government's National Agenda, including efforts to combat drugs and address economic and financial challenges.He stressed the need to strengthen monitoring, evaluation and coordination mechanisms to ensure all planned activities are implemented effectively and achieve their intended results.KPL
