National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane held talks with President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on July 3 in Vientiane during the Myanmar leader's state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5, reaffirming the two countries' commitment to deepening parliamentary cooperation and expanding bilateral relations.

Mr. Saysomphone welcomed President Min Aung Hlaing, his spouse, and the high-level delegation, describing the visit as a significant milestone in strengthening the longstanding friendship and close partnership between Laos and Myanmar. He noted that the visit—the Myanmar president's first to an ASEAN member state since assuming office—underscores the importance both countries attach to their traditional ties. He also congratulated Myanmar on the formation of its new government and President Min Aung Hlaing on assuming the presidency.
President Min Aung Hlaing thanked the Lao leadership and people for their warm hospitality and congratulated Laos on the successful convening of the 10th National Assembly, as well as Saysomphone on his re-election as National Assembly President.
During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on domestic developments and welcomed the continued progress in bilateral relations, citing strong political trust, regular high-level exchanges, and growing cooperation across a range of sectors.
They agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the National Assembly of Laos and the Parliament of Myanmar, including through exchanges of experience and enhanced legislative collaboration to support broader bilateral cooperation.
Saysomphone also welcomed the outcomes of the official talks between President Thongloun Sisoulith and President Min Aung Hlaing held earlier in the day, affirming that the Lao National Assembly would continue to provide legislative support and oversight to facilitate the effective implementation of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding.
President Min Aung Hlaing expressed support for closer parliamentary cooperation, saying both legislatures should continue encouraging the implementation of bilateral agreements to promote trade, investment, and practical cooperation, delivering greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
