Attapeu Signs MOU for Organic Fertilizer Plant Feasibility Study

28/05/2026 21:35
ຂປລ Authorities in Attapeu Province have signed a memorandum of understanding with a private company to conduct a feasibility study on raw material sources and the establishment of an organic fertilizer plant in Sanamxay District.

The agreement was signed May 27 between the Attapeu Provincial Investment Promotion and Management Committee and Sengphatthana Mining-Agriculture and Comprehensive Construction Sole Co., Ltd.
The proposed project will be located in Ban Samongmaipindong and Ban Hinlat in Sanamxay District and will cover a total area of 22 hectares.

Provincial officials said the agreement marks the sixth cooperation project between the provincial investment authorities and private companies aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural development in the province.

The initiative is expected to support socio-economic development, create jobs for local residents and contribute to the restoration of degraded forest areas by transforming them into productive agricultural land.

Authorities said the project would encourage the cultivation of economically valuable chemical-free crops, including durian while reducing dependence on imported fertilizers and minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers through a shift toward organic alternatives.

If feasibility studies confirm the project’s viability, the fertilizer plant could eventually supply products to other provinces and export markets while helping Attapeu achieve greater agricultural self-sufficiency.
Officials added that the project is expected to strengthen sustainable and modern commercial agriculture in Sanamxay District and support long-term economic growth in Attapeu Province.
