Head of Central Commission for External Relations Welcomes Ambassadors from Friendly Nations

On 30 March 2026, at the Office of the Central Commission for External Relations, Mr Bounleua Phandanouvong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Commission  for External Relations, received separate courtesy calls from the newly appointed Ambassadors of Thailand and India to the Lao PDR.

Strengthening Lao–Thai Strategic Relations

Mr Bounleua Phandanouvong first welcomed Ms Krongkanit Rakcharoen, the newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR.

Mr Bounleua expressed his congratulations on her appointment and voiced his confidence that her extensive experience would significantly enhance the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Ambassador Rakcharoen congratulated Mr Bounleua on his recent election to the Party Central Committee during the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).

Both sides highly valued the successful state visit to Laos by Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand.

They pledged to closely coordinate on practical cooperation in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and human resource development. The goal is to bring tangible benefits to both peoples while contributing to regional peace and development.

Enhancing Traditional Ties with India

On the same day, Mr Bounleua received Mr Yogeshwar Sangwan, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Lao PDR.

Mr Bounleua praised the Ambassador’s active role in strengthening traditional ties and expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its socio-economic support.

Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC): Special mention was made regarding the success of projects under the MGC framework, specifically in agriculture and livestock, public health, rural development, education and human resource development.

Ambassador Sangwan congratulated the Lao side on the success of the 12th Party Congress and committed to working closely with the Central Commission for External Relations to expand party-to-party relations and people-to-people diplomacy.
