President Thongloun Sisoulith met with Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank in Vientiane on March 26.
The meeting took place during Mr Kanda’s first official visit to Laos since taking office and coincided with events marking 60 years of cooperation between Laos and ADB.
President Thongloun welcomed Mr Kanda and congratulated him on his leadership, highlighting ADB’s role in supporting development across the Asia-Pacific region, including Laos.
He reaffirmed that Laos regards ADB as a key development partner and expressed appreciation for its long-standing support, particularly in helping maintain economic stability and improve livelihoods during challenging periods.
The President also outlined Laos’ development priorities and expressed confidence that ADB would continue to support the country’s growth in an increasingly complex global environment.
Mr Kanda thanked the Lao government for its warm reception and praised the achievements of the six-decade partnership, reaffirming ADB’s commitment to supporting Laos’ socio-economic development in the years ahead.
