(KPL) Naxaithong District will host the 3rd Vientiane Secondary School Games from March 16–20, bringing together student-athletes from across the capital to compete in a multi-sport event aimed at developing young talent.
Preparations are underway following a technical committee meeting held at Vientiane Secondary School’s ITC Center, chaired by Somly Luangpachanh. The meeting gathered education officials from all nine districts to ensure the competition is conducted in an organized, unified manner and in the spirit of fair play.
The games will feature five core sports for both boys and girls: athletics, football, volleyball, pétanque, and sepak takraw. Participants will represent all districts of Vientiane Capital, making the event one of the largest youth sporting gatherings in the city.
Officials say the competition plays a key role in identifying and nurturing promising athletes who will go on to represent the capital at national-level events, including the 8th National School Games in 2027 in Sekong Province and the 13th National Games in 2028 in Champasak Province.
Beyond competition, organizers aim to use the event to promote friendship, discipline, and excellence among students, while strengthening the long-term foundation of sports development in Laos.
