(KPL) The Lao Women's Union Central Committee, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Laos, organized a lecture on the perspectives of Xi Jinping regarding women’s affairs on March 10, 2026, in commemoration of the 116th anniversary of International Women's Day.

The session was co-chaired by Ms. Aly Vongnobountham, President of the Lao Women’s Union, and Ms. Fang Hong, Ambassador of China to Laos. The event was attended by female leaders, families of senior officials, and representatives of the Lao Women’s Union.

In her remarks, Ms. Aly Vongnobountham said the lecture aimed to enhance understanding of Xi Jinping’s perspectives on women’s affairs and their relevance to the development and advancement of Lao women, particularly female leaders at all levels. The event also served as an opportunity to promote cultural exchange and strengthen mutual understanding between Laos and China.

She noted that 2026 marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China and has been designated as the Laos–China Friendship Year. The Lao Women’s Union and the All-China Women's Federation maintain close cooperation in areas such as women’s development, human resource capacity building, and the protection of the rights of women and children.

Ambassador Fang Hong emphasized that women’s development is an important part of national progress and social advancement. She highlighted that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, women’s affairs have received strong support, promoting equal rights, greater participation in socio-economic development, and shared benefits from national development.

She also noted that China has implemented policies to support women’s employment and entrepreneurship, enabling millions of women to improve their livelihoods and contribute to economic growth.

The ambassador reaffirmed that strengthening cooperation between Laos and China in women’s affairs plays an important role in deepening the longstanding friendship between the two countries and promoting shared development.
