The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Luang Prabang held a ceremony on March 6 to celebrate the 116th anniversary of International Women's Day, while also marking the upcoming 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, officially established on April 25.

(KPL) The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Luang Prabang held a ceremony on March 6 to celebrate the 116th anniversary of International Women's Day, while also marking the upcoming 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, officially established on April 25.
The event, held in Luang Prabang, was attended by Mr. Zhang Sheping, Consul General of China to Northern Laos, Ms. Vienvilay Delaphan, Vice President of the Luang Prabang Provincial Administration Committee, and representatives from six northern provinces.
In her remarks, Ms. Zhang Hequn, Deputy Consul General of China in Luang Prabang, highlighted the important role of women in socio-economic development in both countries. She also emphasized the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Laos and China over the past 65 years, particularly in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
On behalf of the participants, Ms. Vienvilay Delaphan expressed appreciation to the Chinese Consulate for organizing the event and acknowledged China’s continued support for the development and advancement of Lao women.
The celebration also featured cultural and artistic performances from both Lao and Chinese participants, reflecting the contributions of women to national development and the enduring friendship between the two countries.
