On March 6, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos in Vientiane, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, received a courtesy call from Mr. Darkey Ephraim Africa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Lao PDR.

(KPL) On March 6, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos in Vientiane, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, received a courtesy call from Mr. Darkey Ephraim Africa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Lao PDR.
During the meeting, both sides highly valued the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Laos and South Africa, which have steadily developed over the 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations on September 27, 1994.
The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas with strong potential such as trade and investment, tourism, mining, and agriculture. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting each other in regional and international forums.
On the occasion, the Lao foreign minister welcomed the ambassador and commended his efforts in promoting bilateral relations, expressing confidence that cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow for the mutual benefit of their peoples. He also affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands ready to facilitate and support the ambassador’s mission in Laos.
Ambassador Darkey Ephraim Africa expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to work closely with the Lao side, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
