(KPL) The Organization Committee of the Party Central Committee hosted the 2025 Annual Meeting between the Public Sector and Lao Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Vientiane on March 5, 2026.

The meeting, held at the Holiday Inn & Suites Vientiane, was chaired by Visouk Phomphithack, Vice Chairman of the Organization Committee of the Party Central Committee. Participants included vice ministers, vice chairpersons of National Assembly committees, directors and deputy directors from ministries and central mass organizations, as well as representatives of associations and foundations from across the country.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Visouk emphasized that the work of civil society organizations remains an important priority for the Party and Government, as recognized in the Constitution and relevant national laws.

He noted that associations and foundations play a significant role in supporting socio-economic development, promoting solidarity among the people, and contributing to poverty reduction. The government, he added, continues to improve the legal environment to ensure civil society organizations can operate effectively and align their activities with the National Socio-Economic Development Plan.

During the meeting, Soulivan Ontavong, Director General of the Department of Public Administration Development, presented the 2025 report on civil society organizations. According to the report, 358 organizations are currently operating nationwide, including 277 associations and 81 foundations.

Participants also discussed regulatory and administrative issues related to the management and operation of associations and foundations, including relevant decrees and implementation guidelines.

An exhibition showcasing the achievements of civil society organizations was also organized at Parkson Mall Vientiane, allowing visitors to view and support products from various associations and foundations while highlighting their contributions to local communities.
