On 22 February 2026, during the elections for the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils (PPC), former Party Secretary General and State President Choummaly Sayasone cast his votes at the That Luang Tai village temple, Saysettha district, Vientiane.

He joined local residents in an atmosphere described as both vibrant and orderly.
Mr Silapin Vonghachak, Party Secretary and Head of That Luang Tai village, informed the press that the village comprises 429 households across 42 units, with a total population of over 2,000 (including over 1,000 women).
Voters began arriving early in the morning to exercise their democratic rights. Security measures were strictly maintained to ensure the process remained transparent, peaceful, and safe.
Local residents expressed immense pride in participating in the election of representatives for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Vientiane People’s Council. Many noted they were looking for candidates possessing high levels of intellectual competence and wisdom, a commitment to national interests over personal gain, and a vision for a prosperous, unified, and just society.
"We are choosing representatives who will prioritise the common good, aiming for a society that is democratic, fair, and increasingly civilised," one resident remarked.
Calls for Action
Beyond the ballot box, citizens urged the prospective members of the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Vientiane People’s Council—as representatives of the people’s rights and interests—to take a proactive role in addressing pressing local issues. High on the list of priorities were the improvement of road infrastructure, addressing current economic hardships, and tackling various local grievances to ensure public well-being."
