Preparations for the upcoming national elections are progressing smoothly across Laos as candidates and voters gear up for polling day on February 22, 2026.

From Constituency No. 1 in Vientiane to Constituency No. 18, candidates running for seats in the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils (PPC) have been actively campaigning and meeting eligible voters in an organized and energetic manner.
Across the country, voters are also preparing to exercise their rights and elect representatives who will reflect the interests of the people and contribute to national and local development.
In Xaythany district, Vientiane, local authorities reported that election preparations are nearly complete. Mr. Khamsavong Thammavongsa, Deputy Village Head of Donnoun, said the village is fully ready to participate in the election process.

Speaking during a meeting with National Assembly candidates at the Donnoun Village Forest Temple on February 13, 2026, Mr. Kham Savong said the village has successfully completed the registration and verification of eligible voters.
He added that the community has been divided into three polling units to ensure the voting process is well-organized, efficient, and accessible for all residents.
To encourage participation, village authorities have continued public information campaigns through daily loudspeaker announcements, reminding residents about election day and stressing the importance of selecting representatives with competence, and experience who can truly serve the people.

Local residents have also voiced strong support for the election. Mr. Somsanit Douangmano, a voter from Donnoun village, said he feels proud to take part in the process and noted that candidates have shown strong experience and achievements during campaign visits. He encouraged citizens aged 18 and above to vote and choose representatives who can act as a bridge between the people and the Assembly, ensuring local concerns are raised and addressed in a concrete manner.
Meanwhile, Ms. Chansamon Panyasirit, Head of Unit 4 in Donnoun Village, highlighted the importance of this year’s election, describing it as a key opportunity for citizens to select representatives committed to improving livelihoods and supporting national development.
With election day approaching, authorities and communities nationwide are intensifying preparations to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-organized voting process.
