Laos saw strong tourism growth in 2025, receiving a total of 4,580,709 international visitors, an 11% increase compared to 2024, according to the latest report from the Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The increase reflects the continued recovery of Laos’ tourism industry following the challenges posed by the pandemic and other recent crises, signaling renewed confidence among international travelers.
Among the top five source countries, Thailand remained the leading contributor, with 1,484,319 visitors, marking a 22% increase over the previous year. China followed with 1,157,278 visitors, up 10%, while Vietnam contributed 1,129,109 visitors, up 7%.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors from the Republic of Korea declined by 22%, totaling 182,709, whereas Japan saw an increase of 16%, with 73,568 visitors traveling to Laos in 2025.
Tourism officials noted that the steady growth in international arrivals underscores Laos’ appeal as a safe and attractive destination, supported by ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, promote cultural sites, and improve services for foreign travelers.
The government continues to prioritize sustainable tourism development, aiming to strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy while offering high-quality experiences to visitors from around the world.
