(KPL) A health run themed “Run Together Save the Power 2026” was held on February 14 at the That Luang Esplanade, with the route passing Patuxay and the King Chao Fa Ngum Statue, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the 65th anniversary of Electricite du Laos.

The event was officially opened by Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Akhomdeth Vongsay, Managing Director of Electricite du Laos, in the presence of vice ministers, officials and athletes.

Mr. Akhomdeth said Electricite du Laos, founded on December 18, 1961, continues to play a key role in supporting national socio-economic development. He said the run aims to raise public awareness—especially among youth—about efficient energy consumption and reducing unnecessary electricity use.

Organizers said the event serves as a Sports for CSR initiative linking the utility with the community. Key objectives include promoting energy sustainability, strengthening public awareness of responsible power use, and supporting national strategies on efficient, clean and renewable energy.

Mr. Malaithong said the activity reflects a shared responsibility to protect the environment and encourages society, particularly younger generations, to prioritize efficient energy use in line with national policy on sustainable development.
