(KPL) A Lao-China charity cooperation event aimed at raising funds and expanding support for vulnerable groups was inaugurated in Vientiane on February 7, 2026.
The event, themed “New Hope for the Underprivileged,” was organized by the Lao Women’s Advancement Foundation for Development and Social Assistance in collaboration with ASEAN TV of the People’s Republic of China based in the Lao PDR.
Her Excellency Naly Sisoulith, spouse of the Secretary-General of the Party Central Committee and President of the Lao PDR, attended alongside representatives of relevant sectors and invited guests.
Organizers said the initiative seeks to mobilize financial contributions and essential resources to assist poor and underprivileged groups, including orphans. The program also supports employment initiatives for youth, promotes access to education, and provides educational supplies and medical equipment to schools and hospitals in remote areas.
Additional activities include volunteer training programs aimed at preventing drug use among young people and reducing school dropout rates in disadvantaged provinces, districts, and villages nationwide.
Her Excellency Vanphone Somphabmisay, President of the Lao Women’s Advancement Foundation, said the event reflects the close and growing cooperation between Laos and China, particularly as the two countries mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. She noted that the Party and Government of the Lao PDR continue to prioritize the development of women and children as part of broader social progress.
On the occasion, Her Excellency Naly Sisoulith expressed appreciation to organizations, businesses, and philanthropists for their contributions, emphasizing that supporting disadvantaged women and children is an investment in the nation’s future.
