A literary and artistic performance was held aboard the Lao–China Railway on February 4, 2026, highlighting the growing friendship and cultural cooperation between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the People’s Republic of China.

The event took place on a train traveling from Vientiane to Luang Prabang, featuring traditional Lao arts such as dance, song, and performances on the khaen and flute. It was organized to welcome a Chinese delegation and to mark the 65th anniversary of Lao–China diplomatic relations, coinciding with the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) celebrations.

Ms. Anolin Luanglat, Deputy Director of the National School of Arts under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stated that the performance was organized under the theme “Music Along the Journey, Friendship Along the Way.” For this special occasion, the National School of Arts brought 11 performers who presented a total of six performances, including solo and group singing, two dance pieces—Khaen Melody of Happiness and Lao–China Friendship—as well as traditional Lao musical performances featuring the khaen and flute.

The performances vividly reflected the daily life, cultural identity, and fine traditions of the Lao people from various ethnic groups. At the same time, they created excitement, joy, and a lively atmosphere for passengers travelling on the Lao–China Railway.
Beyond commemorating the anniversary of diplomatic relations, the event served as a meaningful platform for promoting exchanges in arts, culture, and literature. It further strengthened the close and enduring friendship between the peoples of the Lao PDR and China, contributing to deeper mutual understanding and continued cooperation between the two nations.
