ຂປລ Election publicity for the upcoming elections of members of the National Assembly (10th Legislature) and the Provincial People’s Councils (5th Legislature) is being conducted across the Lao PDR in a systematic and multi-faceted manner, utilizing a wide range of media products and communication platforms.

Last week, Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board, spoke to the media about the overall roles, rights, and responsibilities involved in supporting the general election. He explained that publicity and mobilization efforts are organized into three main units: the publicity unit, the mass mobilization unit, and the coordination secretariat.

According to Mr. Khamphan, the publicity unit coordinates closely with relevant sub-committees to disseminate key documents and information. This includes reporting on activities and meetings of national and local election committees and publicizing election-related content, with particular emphasis on explaining important documents such as the Politburo Resolution dated September 12, 2025, which emphasizes strengthening Party leadership and guidance at all levels for the elections.

Publicity efforts are being implemented through three main sets of materials: question-and-answer documents promoting the rights of the Lao people of all ethnic groups in relation to the elections; Q&A materials explaining the roles and functions of the National Assembly and Provincial People’s Councils; and Q&A materials specifically detailing the election process for members of both bodies.
In addition, election publicity covers the dissemination of the Presidential Decree announcing the number and list of candidates, the introduction and promotion of candidates in each electoral constituency, and news coverage on election day. Media outlets also report on election slogans, voting procedures, and vote counting, as well as publishing the official lists of elected National Assembly and Provincial People’s Council members following the formal announcement of results by the National Election Committee.
Coverage further extends to preparations for and the convening of the inaugural sessions of the National Assembly (10th Legislature) and Provincial People’s Councils (5th Legislature).
Mr. Khamphan noted that current efforts place strong emphasis on face-to-face outreach, targeted training activities, and publicity through both print and online media.
These efforts are closely linked with patriotic movements and national development initiatives. At present, election-related resolutions have been widely disseminated, and information highlighting the significance and importance of the elections continues to be broadcast and published through major national media outlets, including newspapers, Lao National Radio, and Lao National Television, at both central and local levels.
