A delegation from the Ministry of Public Security of the Lao PDR, led by a Brigadier General, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Public Security Office, attended the Senior Officials Meeting on Mekong River Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation, held from January 26–27, 2026, in Kunming, People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Yo Xiaowen, Secretary of the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center (LMLECC). Delegations from the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar, the Royal Thai Police, and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam also participated.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of activities in 2025 and discussed the direction of the 2026 work plan of the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center. Participants also consulted on draft provisions related to cooperation in combating telecommunications fraud, including cooperation on the establishment of a center dedicated to addressing telecommunications-related crimes.
Delegations from participating countries reached consensus on the 2025 work summary and the 2026 work plan documents, while providing constructive and candid feedback. The meeting also considered several draft documents submitted for consultation, allowing member countries to continue discussions and refine the content to ensure alignment with actual conditions and effective implementation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participating countries expressed their agreement and support for the Lao PDR to host the Ministerial Meeting on Mekong River Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation in 2027, with support from the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center (LMLECC).
