(KPL) On December 25, 2025, A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 25 to mark the start of infrastructure construction for the Lao Cai Yun Circular Economy Industrial Zone in Khammouane Province.

The event was attended by senior officials and invited guests, including Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Mr. Somjai Phanichan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Han Hui Lu, Chairman of Lao Cai Yun Company; and representatives from relevant sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Huang Tesuan, Director of Lao Cai Yun Bolikhamxay Limited Company, said the company has been operating in the Lao PDR since 2008, focusing on the research and efficient utilization of potassium salt resources. He noted that the company currently produces more than one million tons of potassium fertilizer annually, helping build international recognition for Lao potassium fertilizer while contributing to national socio-economic development and industrialization.

The industrial zone will cover approximately 1,000 hectares and aims to establish a modern industrial cluster based on efficient resource recycling and reuse, integrated industrial development, and environmental sustainability. Planned key industries include deep processing of potassium salt, chemicals, salt, bromine, renewable energy, green agriculture, and related commercial services.

Officials said the project is expected to support Laos’ transition from a resource-exporting economy toward industry-led and sustainable development, in line with circular economy principles.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic groundbreaking, as Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, together with attending guests, conducted the ceremonial pile driving and cement pouring to officially launch construction.
