The meeting was held on December 26 and was presided over by Party Secretary General  and President Thongloun Sisoulith, together with members of the Party Central Committee’s Executive Board.
The plenary reviewed a report on preparations for the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. Members discussed and approved key contents to be submitted to the congress, providing guidance to further refine and finalise documents and preparations.
The meeting also gave detailed instructions to relevant sub-committees, including those responsible for content, regulations and personnel, propaganda and mobilisation, national defence and public security, budget and administration, and other supporting tasks.
The Executive Board approved January 6 to 8, 2026, as the official dates for convening the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
Party leaders described the upcoming congress as a historically significant political event, marking an important stage in advancing comprehensive renewal under the leadership of the Party. They stressed that the congress will summarise experiences, draw lessons, and strengthen the Party’s leadership role in guiding national development toward socialism.
The Executive Board reaffirmed its commitment to fully assume political responsibility and to mobilise collective efforts to ensure the successful preparation and convening of the 12th National Congress.
