The training took place in Vientiane on December 24 and was chaired by Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications Kaeovisuk Solapom. Participants included members of Internet Management Committees from provinces and Vientiane Capital.
The session focused on enhancing capacity to manage online information, prevent and respond to emerging digital risks, and provide accurate information to the public. Topics covered included the roles and responsibilities of internet management bodies, news and press release procedures, countering harmful online activities, fact-checking misinformation, handling public complaints, and using online platforms to address information-related challenges.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Kaeovisuk said the rapid growth of social media has transformed communication, business, and daily life, while also increasing risks such as cybersecurity threats, misinformation, defamation, online fraud, and the spread of distorted information.
He stressed that strengthening internet management is essential in the digital era, noting that the internet has become a key tool and critical infrastructure supporting national digitalisation and development.
