The event was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Koizumi, and his spouse, Madame Tamiko, who joined local authorities and residents in celebrating the blossoming cherry trees that have become a symbol of enduring friendship between the two nations.

Also present were Ms. Longkham Phonemixay, Deputy Governor of Houaphanh Province, Mr. Ornpheng Phouvanh, Deputy Mayor of Viengxay District, officials from provincial and district offices; and Ms. Kobayashi Miyako, Chief Representative of the JICA Laos Office.

The festival was organized by the Japanese NGO Asian Development with the Disabled Persons (ADDP), which has implemented a series of community development projects in Viengxay District, including nurturing the Sakura trees at the park with support from the Government of Japan.
