Residents of Vientiane and nearby areas are enjoying a rare opportunity to experience vibrant Malaysian tastes and culture as the Embassy of Malaysia hosts a three-day Food and Culture Promotion at the Holiday Inn, Vientiane, from 4–6 December 2025.

The colorful event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Phongsamouth Alanvan, the Deputy Head of the Organisation and Personnel Committee of the Party Central Committee Vilayvong Boudakham, ambassadors, and representatives of international organizations, underscoring the growing cultural and diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Laos.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Edi Irwan bin Mahmud, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Lao PDR, expressed his delight in presenting a culinary celebration that serves not only as a gastronomic showcase but also as a meaningful bridge between the two nations.

He highlighted that 2026 will mark the 60th anniversary of Malaysia–Laos diplomatic relations, coinciding with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, an initiative inviting global visitors to explore Malaysia’s diverse landscapes, warm hospitality, and iconic cuisine.
“Through this festival, we hope to share not only our delicious dishes but also the stories, traditions, and cultural experiences that make Malaysian cuisine so special,” he said. “From the fragrant spices of Penang’s street food to the rich flavors of laksa, every dish reflects Malaysia’s multicultural identity.”

The event features a special culinary presentation by Head Chef Anas Syafiq offered guests a detailed introduction to the evening’s menu—carefully curated to highlight Malaysia’s diverse culinary heritage.

Visitors can savor signature dishes prepared with traditional spices, learn about the cultural origins of each recipe, and experience the warmth and hospitality that Malaysia is known for.
