(KPL/Prensa Latina) Moscow will host, from December 3 to 4, a BRICS-plus counter-terrorism conference, with the participation of experts from other international organizations, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed on Thursday.
“On December 3 and 4, Moscow will organize, under the auspices of the United Nations, the 2025 BRICS+ Counter-Terrorism Conference: National and Regional Strategies in the Fight Against Terrorism in the Context of Security Challenges and Threats,” the diplomatic institution told reporters on Thursday.
The event will bring together representatives from government bodies, civil society, and scientific circles from BRICS countries who study counter-terrorism and counter-extremism.
Experts from the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will also participate in the discussions, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
The statement also emphasizes that the participants will discuss the fight against extremism and attempts to radicalize the population.
Special attention will be given to the theoretical aspects of eradicating terrorism.
Initially founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS expanded in 2024 to embrace Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ethiopia, and Iran. Indonesia joined the bloc in January 2025.
Other nations, including Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, joined BRICS as associate members.
