Among the distinguished attendees were Mr. Chanthaned Boulapha, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos; Mr. Zhang Qi, Secretary-General of the World Farmers Association; and Mr. Oudeth Souvannavong, President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with representatives from related ministries, enterprises, and international partners.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Chanthaned Boulapha emphasized Laos’ long-standing commitment to fostering global partnerships in agriculture, forestry, and environmental protection. He highlighted that cooperation with the People’s Republic of China has yielded particularly remarkable results.

“The completion of the Laos–China Railway has not only opened a ‘green corridor’ for agricultural exports but also created new opportunities for cross-border agricultural and forestry cooperation,” he noted. Projects such as the Lao–China Rubber Plantation Demonstration Park have brought tangible economic and environmental benefits, while joint ecological monitoring along the Mekong River has provided a scientific basis for tackling climate change and ensuring stable water supplies for farming communities.

He also underscored that Laos has adopted sustainable logging technologies from China to preserve forest resources and improve rural livelihoods. Beyond China, Laos continues to strengthen partnerships with ASEAN neighbors and European countries in fields such as organic agriculture and forest carbon sequestration, embedding the principles of green and sustainable development into national agricultural strategies.

The meeting served as an international platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange in ecological agriculture, sustainable forestry, and environmental conservation. Participants explored opportunities to learn from advanced global experiences particularly in areas like smart forestry and ecosystem restoration to foster deeper cooperation for a greener future.

Mr. Zhang Qi of the World Farmers Association described agriculture as “the pillar of human civilization and the foundation of social well-being and stability.” He praised Laos for its rich natural resources, deep-rooted farming traditions, and significant progress in modernizing its agricultural systems.

China, he added, views Laos as a key partner in advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and in building a community with a shared future for humanity. Agricultural cooperation has become a cornerstone of the strong relationship between the two nations, expanding across multiple areas  from technology transfer and research collaboration to supply chain integration, standard development, and capacity building.

“This partnership has elevated Laos’ agricultural modernization while contributing positively to regional food security and sustainable development,” Zhang said.

Amid growing global challenges such as climate change, market fluctuations, and rapid technological change, both sides emphasized the need to deepen cooperation, share innovations, and build resilience together.

As the meeting concluded, participants reaffirmed their shared vision: that agricultural development, environmental protection, and sustainable growth are collective global responsibilities and that progress will only be achieved through cooperation, mutual support, and shared innovation.
