Laos Consults on New Edition of Wildlife Crime Prosecution Handbook

ຂປລ The Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office (SPPO) has held a two-day consultation to develop the third edition of the Wildlife Crime Prosecution Handbook, aimed at strengthening legal responses to wildlife-related offences.

(KPL) The Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office (SPPO) has held a two-day consultation to develop the third edition of the Wildlife Crime Prosecution Handbook, aimed at strengthening legal responses to wildlife-related offences.

The meeting, held from November 3–4, 2025, in Vientiane Province, was chaired by Mr. Phaikham Vilaisuk, Head of the Department of Criminal Case Monitoring and Inspection at the SPPO. Representatives from relevant departments, divisions, and partner agencies took part.

Participants reviewed existing laws and regulations concerning wildlife protection and enforcement, discussed key issues in drafting and updating the handbook, and integrated feedback into its content. The consultation also focused on identifying practical measures to enhance coordination among law enforcement and judicial bodies.

According to the SPPO, the two-day meeting achieved its objectives, marking an important step toward publishing a comprehensive and up-to-date reference for prosecutors handling wildlife crime cases.
