Sekong Province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Da Nang City of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held a meeting and exchange session between their high-level delegations on October 28, 2025, at the Sekong Provincial Government Office.

(KPL) Sekong Province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Da Nang City of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held a meeting and exchange session between their high-level delegations on October 28, 2025, at the Sekong Provincial Government Office.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Bounlay Boutthi, Secretary of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee, and his delegation, along with Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, and his delegation.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Bounlay Boutthi expressed his warm welcome to the visiting Da Nang City delegation. He emphasized that the purpose of the meeting was to jointly assess and further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam in general, and between Sekong Province and Da Nang City in particular, making these ties more stable and comprehensive.
He also informed the visiting delegation about the successful conclusion of the 11th Congress of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee and extended sincere appreciation to the leadership of Da Nang City for their continuous support and assistance in funding projects that contribute to development and poverty reduction in Sekong Province.
On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vong briefed the meeting on the current situation and progress of the organizational restructuring of Da Nang City. Both sides then engaged in discussions and exchanged views on the future direction of cooperation between the two localities.
During the meeting, the leadership of Sekong Province and Da Nang City signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Border Work. The agreement aims to ensure the harmonized implementation of laws and border management regulations, enhance coordination on border checkpoint operations, and strengthen public awareness efforts to foster special friendship based on solidarity and unity.
Both sides agreed to encourage relevant authorities to coordinate closely in developing and improving border checkpoint infrastructure, and to conduct regular joint inspections and surveys of the border area. They also agreed to establish working committees responsible for coordination, supervision, and on-site monitoring.
The two parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining the peace, safety, and continued development of the border regions, while further deepening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Sekong Province and Da Nang City.
KPL
