(KPL/VNA) The Indonesian Government has officially extended its value-added tax (VAT) exemption for property purchases until 2026 in a bid to boost the housing sector and broader economy.
According to an announcement by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on September 22, the incentive covers purchases of new homes priced up to 2 billion IDR (around 121,000 USD). For homes valued between 2 billion and 5 billion IDR, the exemption applies only to the first 2 billion IDR while the remaining amount is subject to VAT.
The VAT relief policy will remain in effect until 2026, said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
The measure forms part of Indonesia’s 2025–2026 economic stimulus package aimed at bolstering the construction and real estate sectors and sustaining demand as Indonesia faces pressure from global economic challenges.
