(KPL) The Government of Lao PDR’s flagship parenting programme, Love and Care for Every Child, has received a prestigious Team Award from the UNICEF Executive Board, on which the Lao PDR serves as a member, recognizing its impact in supporting families to give children the best start in life.
The initiative, led by the Lao Women’s Union with the support of UNICEF Australia through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), has reached thousands of parents across the country with practical guidance on positive parenting, health, nutrition, early learning, and protection.
Mr Thongphane Savanphet, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Lao PDR to the United Nations, welcomed the award “This recognition highlights the Lao PDR’s commitment to nurturing every child’s potential through love, care and strong family bonds. It also reflects the power of partnership with UNICEF and the valuable support of Australia.”
The Love and Care for Every Child programme has been scaled nationally since 2021, combining community outreach, media campaigns, and innovative tools to empower parents and caregivers. The UNICEF Executive Board’s recognition underscores Lao PDR’s role as a leader in advancing early childhood development and family support in the region.
